Let Chaos Be My Savior

from by Baltimore Rock Opera Society

The navy has caught me
So far from my goal
The hounds nip at my heels
And grow more bold

What hope have I
With a crew full of girls
When what I need are women
Hardened against the world

They still hope for better lives
Think their futures are pure
I know the truth:
This ends in war

Hell all around me
The noose tightens
Let chaos be my savior

I could have stayed comforted
Surrounded by wealth
Cultured and fed
Kept in good health

But the power is there
For the men to all hoard
So I traded out my tool
Silver spoon for a sword

I did it for them!
Or did I do it to gloat?
Have I sailed to bright future?
Or slit my own throat?

Hell all around me
The noose tightens
Let chaos be my savior

I made myself an oath
I saw the evil of the Fronde
France tore itself apart
For petty, greedy concerns

No change or good can come from the wheel
Of one elite after the other
This I swore I would reveal,
Dismantle and destroy

Now they turn against me
Fight not for causes but their lives
Petty, ignored, insignificant
It’s a legend that survives!

If I cannot be a warlord
Let me be a totem
This ship shall burn
And in its burning send a message

Hell all around me
The noose tightens
Let chaos be my savior
